Funeral Service Options
There are three types of funerals:
- The Traditional Funeral has a viewing, a ceremony in our chapel or elsewhere with music, followed by the burial or cremation of the body. There is time for the family and friends to meet and celebrate the deceased life.
- The Graveside Funeral also has a viewing; however the ceremony is held only at the place of burial and usually does not include music. There is also time for family and friends to meet and celebrate the deceased life.
- The Direct Disposition is a “no frills” burial or cremation of the body. There is no viewing, service or family gathering.
Aspects of all three types of funerals can be “mixed and matched” to achieve the result you desire. We will be happy to explain all of the options available to you. Whatever type of funeral you select, bodies that are to be viewed during a service must be embalmed.
Memorial Services
A Memorial Service can be held in addition to or in lieu of a funeral. A Memorial Service allows family and friends to come together to celebrate the deceased’s life. This type of service is often used if the deceased’s body is unavailable due to accident, loss or if the family just prefers not to have the body present.
Your Role In The Service
Your role is to decide how best to memorialize your departed loved one and how best to celebrate his or her life. As you will see in the Resources and Services section, there are a host of options from which to select. There may also be other ideas that are not on our list. Not a problem. Bring us your ideas, concepts, desires, wishes, thoughts, and expectations. We will work with you to make them a reality.
As you make your decisions, you may wish to recall a principle that guides us in our daily tasks:
A life well lived is a life worth remembering.
Our Role In The Service
Our role is to transform your ideas, concepts, desires, wishes, thoughts, and expectations into a reality that will provide you, your family, and friends with happy memories of the funeral experience.
We will work with you and your budget to ensure that a positive funeral experience is not diminished by lingering financial considerations. Sometimes we can suggest options or alternative ways of achieving the same objective.
Once we understand what you wish to accomplish, we may also be able to suggest other things that you may have overlooked. Sometimes our suggestions can enhance the quality of the funeral experience; sometimes they may be helpful in confirming your initial thoughts.
Throughout the funeral process, be assured that our objective is the same—to complete the tasks you assign to us that will deliver the results you want. You are in charge. You are in control. And we are confident that you, like our other clients, will find the experience both affirming and calming.
